Imposingly and with the full power of their
motifs do the large format pictures of
Hamburg painter Sylvia Goebel stand in
front of their spectator. Originating in abstract painting, Sylvia Goebel's art entirely thrives on the strength of her colours. In recent years, the freelance painter has increasingly moved towards figurative motifs and elements. According to her temper, the paintings are laid out in large formats with acrylics on canvas or as smaller paper-works in chalk, pigments and acrylics. The preference for red, blue and ochre in her paintings compresses itself into situations in which people meet one another. Distance and affection, reflection and joy of living... the process of painting commutes between tension and relaxation. Sylvia Goebel was born in 1952 in Cologne and spent, after some time in England and Switzerland, several years in Israel. Since her return in 1986, she is active as a freelance artist. Since 1990, she has taken part, with considerable success, in a series of renowned exhibitions and has won several art prizes and distinctions. |
